Writer Mr Paul Wood is visiting our class three times a week to write personal narratives with our students. These stories will dive deeply into a moment in the students' lives. They are typing these in a Google Doc accessible on any device through Google Classroom.
Social Studies (With Ms McCleary!):
This week we will answer the question: How can we read a text using text features to ask and answer questions?
Students are exploring the scientific and engineering process while redesigning Whirligigs. They are gaining an understanding of how the forces of gravity and friction affect the toy's movement.
Next, we will be exploring ecosystems and the carbon cycle!
Students are learning a variety of artistic techniques with Ms Jones while also exploring the hierarchy of geometric shapes. These pieces will become a honu mosaic!

About Ms Sutrov
Ms Sutrov grew up drawing and painting Upcountry. She has always loved imagination, creativity, nature and all the arts.
She went to college in Canada at the University of Victoria. Ms Sutrov once ran her own art gallery in Pa'ia. She has a red stripe in Taekwondo. Ms Sutrov has visited ten countries, including Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, and more!
Ms Sutrov spent the last three years living in Spokane, Washington where she helped found a project-based-learning charter school. She loves those moments when art creeps into math, science into language arts, and all the other magical crossovers that happen in our world.
Ms Sutrov is sooooo happy to be living back on Maui. She loves the late afternoon at the beach, wandering the Waihe'e Coastline, and hiking in Haleakala Crater. Ms Sutrov brings her paints with her everywhere she goes.
